At NCCI, we’re looking for a Statistical Technician to join our Actuarial and Economic Services team. In this role, you’ll help assemble, validate, and consolidate data and statistics used for actuarial and economic analyses, while also serving as a division representative in several cross-division initiatives and providing administrative support and support for committee meetings and actuarial publications.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Data and Analytical Support

  • Assemble, validate, and consolidate data and statistics for actuarial and economic analyses
  • Use software programs (Excel, querying tools) for data validation assignments
  • Create new exhibits or enhance existing processes to meet business needs
  • Support collaborative AES publications and ensure quality standards
  • Build familiarity with Workers Compensation data and processes, leveraging information to complete analyses
  • Analyze industry information to identify outliers, trends, discrepancies, or key data findings/insights

Administrative Support

  • Oversee division-wide administrative initiatives for the management team, such as time reporting, allocations, web portal, system upgrades, and more
  • Provide support for division meetings and event planning
  • Support committee meetings in reviewing and updating checklists and spreadsheets, committee registration, creating minutes, and designing surveys
  • Provide administrative support for actuarial publications and the Actuarial Communications area
  • Assist with additional administrative tasks as needed (scheduling appointments, meetings, travel arrangements, conference calls, other events)

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare focus area reports with minimal guidance
  • Work with expense reports and generate communications and process documents
  • Maintain files and records for the focus area of responsibility
  • Respond to inquiries as required

WHAT IT TAKES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Math
  • 1+ years of related experience (data analysis or administrative support)
  • Mathematics and statistical skills with the ability to pull and analyze data
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, conditional formatting, array function, etc.)
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Quick learner with various technology platforms (i.e., WebEx)
  • Inquisitiveness with a desire to learn
  • Ability to deliver quality and accurate work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in different focus areas
  • Resourceful in difficult situations
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Familiarity with VBA and SQL
